Cabinet Secretary for Health, Wellbeing and Sport, Shona Robison MP said:
I welcome the findings of the Professional Standards Authority’s report which demonstrate the detailed benefits of the Accredited Registers programme for service users and professionals alike.
Having one, recognised accreditation programme has a number of benefits both for the practitioner, the patient and the employer in providing reassurance that professionals are subject to the appropriate scrutiny. It is an excellent example of Right-touch Regulation, which improves the quality and safety of care.
As we move towards the integration of health and social care, these professions covered by the Accredited Registers programme will become ever more important in help to support more people at home or in a homely setting.
